"A Pair of Star-Crossed Lovers Take Their Life"
By:Josue Mateo
Romeo and Juliet were found dead together in the Capulet's Tomb in the peaceful town of Verona. In Verona, the Montagues are known for being the Capulets Enemy. It is said that Romeo and Juliet where married but no one other than the Nurse and the Friar knew because the marriage was secret. Police that were investigating in this scene say that they both commited suicide after seeing each other dead. They say Juliet was pretending to be dead by drinking a potion that the Friar gave her. Although she was in a deep sleep everyone around her thought she was dead. After her funeral everyone had left and it is said that Romeo came into her tomb and after seeing Juliet dead he drank a poison and then he died. Not even 5 minutes after Romeo killed himself, Juliet woke up and in horror saw Romeo's dead body laying next to her, she then commited suicide. Mercutio and Tybalt also died throughout this whole scheme.
Romeo's Profile
Romeo is Lord Montague and Lady Montague's son. Romeo is Benvolio's cousin and Balthasar's master. Romeo was believed to be 16 years old. He was a guy who was looking for someone to replace a whole in his heart that his ex-girlfriend, Rosaline, had left him. He fell in love with Juliet when he saw her at a party the Capulet's were throwing. He was a good person to his friends and family. He was a well respected man in his household.
Juliet's Profile
Juliet is the daughter of Lord Capulet and Lady Capulet. Juliets best friend was the Nurse. Juliet was around 13 years old. Juliet had no idea what love was before she met Romeo. She was supposed to get married with Paris but she secretly got married with Romeo. She first met Romeo in a party her family was throwing. She later found out he was an enemy of their household, he was a Montague.
Statements from a Capulet: "The Nurse"
The nurse was a main witness in this investigation for she was one of the two who knew what was really going on between Romeo and Juliet. This is what she had to say when we interviewed her:
"I didn't know this was going to happen. All of this just went out of hand when Tybalt killed Mercutio and then Romeo killed Tybalt. This put a lot of stress in Juliet and must of given her this wild idea to drink the potion. All I did was just follow the orders Juliet wanted me to do. I didn't know my best friend was going to die from this whole love thing they were both going through.
Consequences
The Princes' punishment to the two households was not that harsh for he knew that they are going through some difficult times right now for the death of their loved ones. He said to stop this stupid hatred they had for one another and just give peace to one another. Both households agreed. The Prince then added that the only people who were going on trial were The Friar and The Nurse because they both knew what was going on and didn't tell him or anyone else. The Friar was banished from Verona for giving Juliet the potion which led them to kill themselves. The Nurse got 2 years of jail time for knowing about what was going on between Romeo and Juliet and not telling the Prince or any of the households.

My views on Euthanasia
I was bewildered when I saw how controversial the topic of euthanasia was. In my opinion I think euthanasia is the right thing to do if there is no chance of the patient to ever wake up or vegetable state. No person wants to live a life were you can't even enjoy living because they'll be stuck in a deep sleep so in my opinion they ain't really living. Although death is an intimidating thing it's basically the same thing as being in a coma because although your still breathing your dead inside because you can't even wake up and see your family again, or do anything since you don't have control of your body anymore. When someone is in a coma and years have passed, then the guardian of that person will be obligated to make the decision of letting the patient live or die. Although euthanasia is a rigorous decision the patient must of wanted it to end like that since they wouldn't want their guardians to waste a lot of money to keep them alive when they ain't really living. Death is inevitable in every human so the patient is going to die no matter what, either way the person who was in the coma was never really living since they were basically in a deep sleep. My decision is for euthanasia because I wouldn't want to live my life like that. I actually want to live and do activities with my friends and families other than making them deppresed and waiting for some miracle that's never going to happen

"Mercy" Killing?
1. Reflecting on Of Mice and Men
a. Explain George's perspective for what he did to Lennie.
George killed Lennie because he didn't want Lennie to get tortured to death by Curley. Also he wanted Lennie to stop getting in trouble because not only did he make them lose their last job but he also killed an innocent girl and George didn't want anyone else to suffer from Lennie's mistakes. George didn't want to keep on looking after Lennie and if he didn't kill Lennie then who knows how many people he would of hurt.
b. Do you think that was the best thing to do for Lennie?
Yes, I do think that was the best thing to do for Lennie because who knows what kind of trouble or harm he would of brought to other peoples lives. George knew that no matter how hard Lennie tries he would still get in trouble and in the future George might not be able to help Lennie out. George let Lennie die happy and saved him from the hell Curley was going to bring to him.
2. Father in Italy Accused of Murder
a. Using a "quote" to support your response, explain the father's reasons for what he did.
"Late last year, 67-year-old Beppino Englaro, won an intense 10-year legal battle to allow his daughter's feeding tubes to be removed, saying that was her wish." He did it because he didn't want his daughter to live her life like that.
b. Using a "quote" to support your response, explain if that was the best thing to do for the daughter.
"Eluana Englaro, who had been in a vegetative state for 17 years, died Feb. 9 in a clinic in the city of Udine after doctors removed her feeding tubes. She was 38.....his daughter had expressed a preference for dying over being kept alive artificially." This was the best thing to do for his daughter because the daughter said so herself. His daughter didn't want to live a life where she isn't really living.
c. Do you agree or disagree with what the father did? Why?
I agree with what the father did because who would want to live a life where you don't even know what's going on around you. When your alive but you can't even wake up and say hi to your family or friends. I wouldn't want to live as a vegetable because to me that's not living at all. I wouldn't want them to waste their money on something that isn't going to come out with a happy ending.
3. Man Kills Family after Losing his Job
a. Imagine and list things that might have been going through the father's mind as he contemplated his "mercy" killing. (In the article, the father's suicide note gives specific evidence of why he did what he did. Elaborate on it.) Specifically, what could he have been negative or paranoid about?
He must of been thinking what was he going to do to support his family with no money. How will he let his family suffer when they can just rest in peace together. With no job how was he going to give his family food/shelter. He thought his family was going to suffer really bad and he didn't want them to go through with it. He must of been really stressed out and with no other options but to kill himself, but to go that far and kill his entire family is just really harsh.
b. Unfortunately, with America's failing economy, many professionals are losing their jobs. While many do not resort to something as extreme as the man in the article, it does cause stress within families. What are some ways that parents can support children (to succeed in life) that do NOT require money?
One way is to tell them to stay in school and get good grades so when their older they won't have the problems their parents must be going through. Have their parents tell them that it will all get better soon. Start getting close to your children and support them to getting good grades in school.

LOTF Planning Sheet
1a. Find and post a picture of a celebrity, athlete, cartoon character, etc (male OR female) who would best play RALPH.1b. Answer the following in a complete sentence: Who is this person? Give 5 thoughtful reasons this person would play RALPH well (use descriptions, personality traits, roles, actions, motives, etc)
I chose Kyle from South Park to play as Ralph from LOTF because he is the smartest one in the group, as Ralph was. Also because he has a lone voice to cartman's evil schemes almost like when Ralph and Jack start arguing and Jack later leaves the group. Kyle also put up a fight to Cartman when he missed christmas, as when Ralph was putting up a fight when they were trying to catch him. Kyle always tries to protect the people he cares about like when Ralph went to go look for Jack to get Piggy's glasses back. Kyle also feels sympothy for others like when he gave a bum 5$; just like when Ralph felt bad for Simon when he died.

3a. Find and posta picture of a celebrity, athlete, cartoon character, etc (male OR female) who would best play PIGGY.
3b. Answer the following in a complete sentence: Who is this person? Give 5 thoughtful reasons this person would play PIGGY well (use descriptions, personality traits, roles, actions, motives, etc)
I chose Butters from South Park to play as Piggy because they are both scared of doing things that may hurt them. Even though Butters doesn't wear glasses like Piggy, they both have the same personalities. One thing is that they both never defend themselves and show some back bone. Their roles are basically the same because they are always the ones who everyone picks on and makes fun of. Both of them need to put up with everyone because they are the ones who are always made fun of and they will barely defend themselves.

6. Find and post a picture of what you would use as your "beastie" (you can have more than one)
7a. Find and post a picture of a place you would like your movie to take place (this does NOT have to be an island - think of another place your characters can be stuck)
7b. List at least three things you would change about the story (this may be due to setting OR just personal preference)
One of the things I would change about the story is that the beastie would hunt atleast two people from the group. And since it hunted some of the group it will lead them to start fighting back and make traps that when the beast steps on it, it will trap him and the group would kill it. Also I would make the fight with Ralph and Jack more violent than it was because all they did was just push and hold each other. Another thing I would change is that the boys knew how to make better equipment with the stuff they find in the island.8. TITLE: Would you keep the title Lord of the Flies the same? If not what would you change it to?
No, I would change it to something that goes with a "Survival" kind of thing. It would probably be like "Into Oblivion".

2nd assignment: Views on Abortion
1.What is your stance on abortion? Give three reasons why (this is your own thoughts). Explain clearly and use a lot of detail. - 5 points
My stance on abortion is pro-choice because it's their decision on what they want to do with their bodies and sometimes they want their babies to live a normal life. Some babies can come with some sort of disabilities and it might make their childrens life harder than it has to be. Also some women ain't ready to have a kid or start their own family. Some women get raped and don't want to have the kid of the person who raped them.
2. Copy/paste evidence that supports that supports your views. Make sure you use quotation marks (" ") because these are NOT your words. - 3 points
"Even if we accept that the fetus is a person with a right to live, this doesn't mean that all abortions are wrong.
In some circumstances it may be ethical for a mother to have an abortion to defend herself from the danger to her mental or physical health that continuing with the pregnancy would cause."
3. Explain the quote you chose for number 2 in your own words. You can explain it in the following ways: relate it to something that happened in your life or someone else's, explain why you agree with the statement, explain it to the reader with more detail in case the reader might not understand the quote, or give the reader a hypothetical situation in which the quote plays out. (Whichever why you decide to explain your quote, you should have at least 3 sentences to be thorough) - 6 points
I chose this quote because some women out there abort their child, not because they want to but they have to for their own life. There are some women who gave their lives for giving their babies birth and died. Some women don't want to die so soon or might not be able to support themselves mentally and physically under this situation.
Extra Credit
4.Copy/paste evidence that supports that supports your views. Make sure you use quotation marks (" ") because these are NOT your words.
"I went for my 20-week anomaly scan thinking everything was perfectly fine with the baby. We were told at that particular scan there were a range of abnormalities affecting our baby.
We were then given the option of terminating or continuing the pregnancy. We felt at that point in our lives, with our own personal circumstances, we weren't able to continue with that pregnancy.
It's not an easy decision. Abortion is horrible at eight, 24 or 28 weeks. It's a messy business but unfortunately life doesn't always fit into little pigeon holes. It's not always perfect."

(Whichever why you decide to explain your quote, you should have at least 3 sentences to be thorough)
The women decided to abort her baby because her child had a disability and didn't want her herself to get into more danger. She also decided for her baby to get aborted and they choose to end the pregnancy. They wanted to start a family but her baby was going to come out with disabilities making her baby's and her own life difficult.
